Mission Man Sentenced for Assaulting a Federal Officer

United States Attorney Brendan V. Johnson announced that a Mission, South Dakota, man charged with Assaulting a Federal Officer was sentenced on January 12, 2011, by United States District Judge Roberto A. Lange. Randy Running Horse, a/k/a Randy Brave Hawk, age 33, was sentenced to three years of supervised probation. As part of his sentence, he must also complete eight months of home confinement and pay a $100 special assessment to the Victim Assistance Fund.

Running Horse was indicted for Assaulting a Federal Officer by a federal grand jury on September 15, 2009. The charge relates to Running Horse kicking a federal officer on June 5, 2009, in Parmelee, South Dakota. He pled guilty to the charge on October 6, 2010.

This case was investigated by Rosebud Law Enforcement Services. Assistant United States Attorney Tim Maher prosecuted the case.

Running Horse was immediately turned over to the custody of the United States Marshal.
